Change the Catalog of a Document in Content Central

Unlike other fields, including the Document Type, it is not possible to change the Catalog of a Document in Content Central from the Properties list when viewing the file. However, it is possible to change the Document's Catalog by creating a Workflow Rule using the "Content - Change Catalog" Action. In order to create a Workflow Rule to do this, first the Trigger and Action must be created in the "Administration>Workflow" section of Content Central, which is accessible to Admin user accounts. The Trigger to be used may be different depending on when/how you wish for the changing catalog Action to activate and for what specific documents.

As an example, in the screenshots below the Trigger used is designed to move ALL of the documents under the chosen catalog(blue) to the catalog chosen in the Action (red). After the Trigger and Action are created, then the Workflow Rule is needed to be created in the "Administration>Workflow>Rules" section in order to combine both. Once the Rule is created and enabled, the Workflow which moves the document(s) from one catalog to another will run and may take some time to finish (it is also important that after it is completed and the document(s) have changed catalog, you will need to disable/delete the Workflow Rule in order to prevent more documents from being affected).
