On September 12, 2017 Microsoft released an update that is affecting many document management solutions and their customers. This update for Microsoft .NET has caused many of our Content Central customers to experience issues with scanned images going to an “unprocessed” folder on the Content Central server or for scanned images to appear blank inside the Content Central interface. Primarily, we are seeing this affect customers that are using Zonal Capture and/or QCards, but it can affect any scenario where PDF files are being captured.
Microsoft recognizes the issue, and they are working on a resolution. Here is a link to Microsoft's official support article. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4043601/rendering-issues-after-the-september-12-2017-net-security-and-quality
The offending updates:
4040971 will be found on Windows 8 or Server 2012.
4040972 will be found on Windows 8.1 or Server 2012 R2.
4040973 will be found on Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2.
To work around this problem, temporarily remove and block (right click and “Hide Update” within Windows Update console) the September 12, 2017 Security and Quality Rollup update above, and then install the corresponding September 12, 2017 Security-Only update to make sure that systems are secured against the latest vulnerabilities.
