This applies for Content Central v7.

Packets Feature

Several documents can be grouped together as a packet with a field value shared among them.

Packets Templates can be configured in the Packet Templates Page.

Go to Administration > Packet Template

Packet Configuration


Packet Name
  • Name of the Packet

Enabled
  • If TRUE or CHECKED, the packet is enabled.

Primary Document Type
  • The name of the Document Type that is captured initially or represents the core document type around which all the Document Type members in the packet is based.

Key Field
  • The Document Type Field which links all the Document Type members to the packet. All Document Type members are linked together in the packet when they share the same ‘Key Field’.

Document Type Packet Members
  • Name of the Document Type that are linked together to the packet.

Required for Completion
  • If TRUE or CHECKED, the associated Document Type Members is required to complete the packet or for packet completion.

Lookup Field
  • If TRUE or CHECKED, Packet Field Look-up is enabled or available for the associated Document Type Members, such that:
  • In the Capture Page or in the Document Properties panel, a yellow ‘key’ icons is displayed next to a Key Field. Click the ‘key’ icon or ‘Perform key-field lookup’ link to perform a real-time field packet lookup.
  • The Global Fields that are shared between the Primary Document type and the Document type Members will be automatically populated, based on the ‘Key Field’ entered for the Primary Document Type initially, when performing Packet Look-up.


Perform Packet Key Field Look-up in the Capture Page


If ‘Lookup Field’ is TRUE or CHECKED for the Packet, performing ‘Packet Key Field Look-up’ is possible with the step below, such that the common Global Fields will be automatically populated based on the ‘Key Field’ value entered.

STEPS -

Login as user with the permission to ADD documents to the specified Document Type Packet Members.

Click ‘Menu’ icon, found at the top left portion of the Title Bar of the website, to show the Menu Panel.

In the Menu Items, select ‘Capture New’, ‘Electronic’.

In the Capture page, select the Catalog and Document Type, that is a member of the Packet.

In the Capture page, enter field value for the ‘Key Field’ specified.

Perform Packet Key-Field Look-up, by -

Clicking on the yellow ‘key’ icon found by the Key Field. OR, clicking on ‘Perform key-field lookup’

One or more fields will be automatically populated, matching the field values of the Primary Document having the same Key Field Value.

Capture the document.


Performing Key Field Look-up is also possible in 'Properties' panel in other parts of Content Central.

View Documents in a Packet using Packet Panel


The PACKET Panel, right beside the PROPERTIES PANEL is intended for quick access to the packet, to be able to preview the document members of the Packet.

The PROPERTIES Panel remains to show the properties or field values of the original document.




View Documents in a Packet from the Actions Panel

Login is as user with VIEW and SEARCH permission to the specified Document Type Packet Member.

Navigate to a document from the Primary Document Type or a Document Type Member.

Optionally, check the document; or preview the document.

From the ‘Actions’ panel, select ‘View Packet’.

The Content Central webpage will be refreshed and redirected to the Packet Search Page, which contains document results that are members of the same packet.

View Documents in a Packet using Search by Packet

Login is as user with VIEW and SEARCH permission to the specified Document Type Packet Member.

Click ‘Menu’ icon, found at the top left portion of the Title Bar of the website, to show the Menu Panel.

In the Menu Items, select ‘Search’ > ‘Packet Search’.

Select ‘Packet Template’ to search.

Enter ‘Key-Field Value’ to search.

Click ‘Go’ to search.

The search results will show documents that are linked to the searched packet based on the key field.
