How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Add a second layer of security to your account with an authenticator app that generates a 6-digit code.
What you'll need. An authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. After setup, you'll enter a 6-digit code from that app when you sign in.
Step 1: Sign in
Open Content Central in your web browser. Type your Username and Password, then click LOGIN.
Step 2: Find your name in the top-right corner
After you sign in, the Dashboard appears. Your name is shown in the top-right corner.
Step 3: Open Account Security
Click your name in the top-right corner, then choose Account Security.
Step 4: Turn on MFA
On the Multi-Factor Authentication card (it will say NOT ENABLED), click Enable MFA.
Step 5: Scan the QR code with your app
Content Central displays a QR code and a manual entry key. In your authenticator app:
- Add a new account, then either scan the QR code on screen or type in the manual entry key.
- The app begins showing a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
- Back in Content Central, type the current 6-digit code from the app and confirm to enable MFA.
The QR code is unique to your account, so it isn't shown here. Treat it like a password: don't share it.
Step 6: Save your recovery codes
- When MFA is enabled, Content Central shows a set of one-time recovery codes.
- Copy them and store them somewhere safe (a password manager or a secure note). Each code lets you sign in once if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.
Important. Recovery codes are shown only once. If you don't save them now, you'll have to generate new ones later. Don't store them in the same place as your password.
Signing in with MFA
From now on, after you enter your username and password you'll be asked for the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Open the app, read the code, and enter it to finish signing in.
Manage or turn off MFA
- Go back to your name › Account Security.
- Enter a current 6-digit code from your app to verify your identity.
- From there you can generate new recovery codes or disable multi-factor authentication.
Your administrator may require MFA for some or all accounts. If MFA is required for you, you'll be prompted to set it up the next time you sign in.
